Last weekend we took a "mini-vacation" to Topeka to visit mom and dad. It was so nice to just get away ... even for a few days!
We went over to the Statehouse on Sunday for a little tour. It was fun to look around when no one else was there ... lots of great photo ops!
The whole family on the steps outside the old Supreme Court
Papa Don and his kiddos in his new office ... nice new digs!
The kids "exploring" the construction at the statehouse (don't worry ... it was a non-hard hat zone)
Outside Papa Don's office in the Statehouse
2010 Representatives
Back row, center!
The Pledge of Alligiance ... I don't think Maggie knows what is going on. She was rubbing her belly. :)
Family shot! ... Bruce is pointing at Grandma Betsy across the stairs. :)
Famous John Brown painting
Freshly polished copper railing
Other interesting architectural elements ... stained glass and newly painted ceilings.
Another amazing mural.
We had such a great time! Only wish the weekend could have lasted longer!

Great pictures, Sarah. The State House was our fifth grade field trip destination ever year for 23 years...those murals are still awesome. Those 3 little kids are even more awesome! Papa Don must have been so proud to have you all there. Thanks for sharing!! K & M's Aunt Deannie
What a fun mini-vacation!! I don't think I've seen a picture of Maggie in a long time. She looks like such a big girl!!
I love your pictures, Sarah - both the family ones and the ones showing details in the remodeled capitol building. Glad you all had a fun weekend!
I'm glad you were able to get away for a "mini vacation". I enjoyed seeing all your photos. What a happy family! Miss you my friend.
