Day One - It's FINALLY HERE!

Shortly before 8:00 this morning, a semitruck containing OUR HOUSE! rolled down the recently graveled 122nd road to our build site. Here is our house!

Okay, so technically, it's not a house YET, but it will be! Hard to believe that this semi brought in all of the materials needed to create the entire exterior shell of the house. The stack of steel that will be the siding and roofing is no more than 8 inches thick. When I asked Vance (the Wick dealer who is putting up the shell for us) if that was all of the steel, he replied that it was enough to cover a football field. Yep, that should probably do it!

Vance's crew has about 7 working days left on a project before they get to ours. Hopefully by the end of April/beginning of May, his crew will be starting on our place. We are praying for no rain or strong winds so they will be here quick!

Here is the truck just turning into our drive - check out that brand new gravel! It's the small things in life, really. :) We've had a heck of a time convincing the township crew that gravel for our road was a necessity. But with a little persistance we convinced them to get the job done.
It's amazing how excited I was when I saw the gravel yesterday - just in the nick of time! It would have been a little sketchy trying to get that truck down the previously un-maintained road without gravel.

More pictures to come!

Wow! To be posting right along with the Libster and Mama Betsy! I am SO honored! "Looks like you had a beautiful day for delivery" and "now we can see all your progress"... Sounds like you're having a baby, not a house! It's a baby house! No, a house baby! ("I was checkin' the upper rotary girder on the... I'm retarded!")
Congrats Sarah and Gage! You've come a long way from the Horizon days of the doublewide with the redwood deck, baby!
Love ya! H
