Seems like every time I turn around, something major is changing! Here is a picture of me with my friends and co-workers, Stephannie and Lonnie, just this Monday ... now it's just lonely ol' me here in the office by myself, blogging on my lunch break. Lonnie's last day was yesterday (*sniff*), and Steph had her baby girl Emma yesterday afternoon (yea!). Needless to say, my daily responsibilities and job have changed a LOT in just a few short days. I miss them both already - Stephannie had better bring Emma to come play SOON (although I did get to play with her at the hospital last night ... too sweet!).
Signs of Domesticity
(...is that even a word?)
Behold ... the pantry ...
Gage built my shelves last weekend - soooo exciting! I can just picture the myriad jars of salsa, jam and pickles now!
Have you ever seen those blogs that feature gorgeous food pictures? This isn't one of them. However, I did feel the need to document this simple occassion - making biscuits to go with dinner - because it is still amazing to me that I can once again appreciate these simple joys. Life is good. :)
Construction Progress
It has occurred to me lately that the Werner House Project blog hasn't so much been about the werner house project lately. I'm toying with the idea of changing the name of the blog once construction is done ... suggestions anyone? I'm sure it will evolve into something. However, for the time being, let's get back to business:
So this project is a little harder to see and therefore document. The only way I could think of to portray this bit of progress is through, what I call the "moving of the cat". Gage got our radient heat flooring hooked up which has made the floor oh-so-toasty-and-warm. Well, it's getting there anyway! It is taking awhile for the heat to spread throughout the entire floor, so right now it's warm spot, cold spot, warm spot, cold spot. Hence the moving of the cat. Just find the location of the cat, and you have yourself a warm spot.
More progress ... DOORS! Gage was super busy last weekend ... in addtion to the pantry and radiant heat, he hung FIVE doors (no easy task since they are all old farmhouse doors that needed to be cleaned and trimmed up before they were hung). We still have the handles and door stops to do and about 5 more doors, but this is huge progress folks.
What did I do last weekend, you ask? I painted a door. Yep, one door. But I did other stuff to, like ... well... shoot. I know there was other stuff, wasn't there? I suppose someone has to keep the household a'running, laundry, meals, organizin the pantry and such, while the man does the real work. Wait a minute ... What have I become?!? :) This weekend, I promise I am going to work on the house. Promise.
However, sometime soon, I am also going to have to start planning my garden. And starting seeds, yeah that needs to be done soon. Plus, Emily and I have all of those Valentine's to write and Valendtine's cookies to bake. *sigh* New promise: I promise to TRY to work on the house this weekend and not get distracted by fun stuff.
